Black History Bootcamp. S7. Day 21.
Pleasure Principle 21
Salute A Sister
One lost a mother.
One lost a job.
One lost a baby.
Each of them called in during Saturday’s live walk and talk. Our first #SisterhoodSaturday of the Summer. It was an opportunity to celebrate the end of Black History Bootcamp with our community and a chance to hear directly from the thousands of women who walked with us as we recorded the 21 Pleasure Principles live this June.
The stories that came through, including the three mentioned above, which started with loss but ended with triumph, speak so powerfully to how this movement is touching women in their time of need—reaching to women in the far-out places, where they thought they had been left for dead, speaking to women in their mama’s foreign tongue—and calling us all to a higher place.
Listen to the call here.
It’s the walk you need to take today. The word you need. So lace up and hear for yourself what was shared and declared in the name of healing for Black women.
During the walk Morgan and I shared our personal reflections, honest and raw, on what it has felt like to hold this space for the women who walk with us—and to do it while healing through our own journeys. We praised God for the work being done and committed to using the rest of this summer to turn out our neighborhoods into a sea of superhero blue.
Your next chance to join us will be this coming Saturday, July 15th for our next welcome walk in the Summer of Radical Welcome series.
We need every woman to drop a pin on the GirlTrek map and let us know where you will be walking that day. Here's how. It’s not a campaign call-to-action, it’s a bat call to the sisters who know that we are the ones they’ve been waiting for.
Wait no longer.
We are here.
Thank you sincerely, family. Your outpouring of prayers, your sidewalk sleuthing and anthropological work, your texts to help make each episode better, your vulnerability in sharing GirlTrek with others, “pushing it like a drug,” said one caller. We see you and love you.
This is the work.
